I have bundled together ten resources which focus on endangered animals and conservation issues . Polar bears, sea turtles and albatrosses all face particular problems in our seas and oceans. These resources take a look at these creatures and how they are adapted to their natural environment and what steps we must take in order for them to survive in greater numbers. The problem of plastic waste is a recurring theme in several of these resources. This bundle includes quizzes, comprehensions , poetry and puzzles which will engage pupils and inspire them to do their own independent research.
Suitable for ages 7 and upwards.
This resource provides information about some of the perils that sea turtles and polar bears face in the world today and asks students to think of ways to improve conditions for these wonderful creatures. Links are given to useful sites to aid further research and investigation. This resource would prove useful when learning about seas and oceans and conservation in general. Texts provide insight as to how these creatures are adapted to their specific environments and how we have a duty to preserve those environments.
Suitable for ages 8+
This Power Point looks , in particular, at the character of Mrs Birling in J. B. Priestley’s An Inspector Calls.
Quotations are used to substantiate her character as a snob, a traditionalist and prejudiced against “that sort”. Students of the play are asked to focus on Mrs Birling’s words and to find evidence to support labels such as cold-hearted, ignorant and patronising. Students are given a biographical time-line of J.B.Priestley and asked to consider the historical significance of the date An Inspector Calls was written. They are also asked to debate the notion of charity and what Sybil Birling’s true motive might have been for belonging to a charitable organisation. Students are made aware of Priestley’s socialist stance and are invited to debate the fundamental differences between socialism and capitalism.
This resource will prove useful when revising specific characters and their motivations in relation to this play.
I have bundled together ten resources which investigate some of the wondrous creatures that inhabit the seas and oceans and use bioluminescence to their advantage. I include two quizzes about the properties of water which include inspiring quotes and poetry which will prompt further investigation into and discussion about the natural world. Other resources take inspiration from David Attenborough and focus on the problem of plastic waste within our seas and oceans.
Suitable for ages 10+
This Power Point uses a story, poem and graphics to illustrate the similarities between humans and the properties of glass. Pupils are asked to compare the similarities between broken glass and fractured personalities and how we need to be more resilient in our everyday lives. This resource could be used throughout the year but would be particularly appropriate during anti-bullying week.Students discuss phrases such as “don’t bottle it up” and “glass half empty”. Pupils may like to do further research into the breaking of a glass as part of the Jewish wedding ceremony.
This resource is intended to provoke discussion and could be used in tutor time, as an assembly or for times of reflection. Alternatively, It could be used to inspire creative writing.

I have bundled four resources together which will provide valuable material when it comes to answering context questions when studying Victorian novelists such as Dickens. The resources include key themes of the Victorian novel, how Christmas was made so popular by Dickens' work and how Christmas has become so commercialised today and has lost its true meaning. Included also is a poetry analysis of No! which depicts an enveloping smog, so evocative of Victorian London.
This Power- Point presentation takes Scrooge as its initial focus and then questions our notion of Christmas and how it has changed from the idyllic view of the Victorian era to the modern day commercial excesses. With reference to the migrant crisis and the quest to feed the world in challenging circumstances this presentation will make audiences think about the true meaning of Christmas and what issues should really be at the forefront of our minds at this time of year. The Australian bush fires are brought to mind with flaming imagery.
This resource could be used as an assembly piece or to initiate a debate or discussion with the audience. This would be particularly useful for those students who are studying Dickens or other Victorian novelists. Global warming as an issue that affects us all, both rich and poor, at this time of year.
